AL.CHI.MI.A. S.r.l. attended the World Ophthalmology Congress, held in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, from February 16 through February 20, 2012.Our impression of this congress was an extremely positive one. We had very large numbers of visitors at our booth, with a good mixture of highly qualified old and new contacts, and lots of interest in our products.
During the congress, two important lectures were delivered by Dr. Marco Rossi and Dr. Mario Romano to present information on our newest products: THIN-CTM and heavySIL 1500.
THIN-CTM is an innovative corneal deswelling agent to be used before corneal lamellar tissue preparation. It increases the tissue stiffness, thus facilitating its manipulation during surgery, reducing postoperative tissue folds and allowing a faster visual recovery of the patients.
heavySIL 1500 is a new heavier-than-water intraocular tamponade for the treatment of complicated inferior retinal detachment. Anatomical success was achieved in all patients, without significant emulsification, difficulty in oil removal and inflammation.
The two speakers shared their experience with the audience and conveyed useful information for an optimim use of the two products, such as measurement of corneal thickness, before incubation in THIN-CTM, and fluid-air exchanges to ensure complete removal of perfluorocarbons from vitreous cavity, before injecting the heavy silicone oil.
