Development of a novel corneal deswelling medium (THIN-C) used for the preparation of tissue for DSAEK/DALK by microkeratome and femtolaser.
We developed a novel corneal deswelling medium (THIN-C) for preparation of corneal lamellar tissue for DSAEK/DALK by microkeratome and femtolaser in collaboration with the Hospital of Busto Arsizio (Italy), the Monza Eye Bank (Monza, Italy), the S. Giovanni Addolorata Hospital (Rome, Italy) and the Barraquer Ophthalmology Centre (Barcelona, Spain).
Results on THIN-C performances were presented at EVER 2009, Portoroz, Slovenia; S.O.I. 2009, Milan, Italy: S.I.TRA.C 2010, Siena, Italy; EuCornea 2010, Venice, Italy; SIBO 2010, Lucca, Italy, EATB 2010, Venice, Italy.
An additional paper will be also presented at the ASCRS 2011, San Diego (U.S.).
THIN-C is currently undergoing the process to affix the CE mark.
